Rautaruukki won dispute concerning use of name Ruukki

Rautaruukki Oyj Stock exchange release 26 October 2007 at 11.30

In its decision issued on 24 October 2007, Helsinki Court of Appeal dismissed
all Ruukki Group Oyj's claims in the dispute concerning the use of the name
Ruukki. At the same time, the court also ordered Ruukki Group to compensate all
Rautaruukki's legal costs. Ruukki Group demanded that Rautaruukki be prohibited
from using the "Ruukki" name and claimed damages as a result of use of the
name.

The court of appeal stated that "ruukki" (foundry) is a general Finnish word
that unquestionably means an iron or steel works and that Ruukki Group does not
have an exclusive right to use of this identifier.

Helsinki District Court issued a similar decision in the matter on 16 November
2006, but Ruukki Group appealed the decision at Helsinki Court of Appeal.
